Danfoss Drives takes home the energy efficiency award

Danfoss Drives won the coveted Energy Efficient Product of the Year HVAC&R Award for its FC103 Refrigeration Variable Speed Drive at this year’s Energy Awards. The event took place on December 2, 2015 and saw more than 500 of the industry’s finest meet at a glamorous ceremony at the Park Lane Hilton in central London.

Danfoss Drives was chosen as the overall winner in the HVAC&R Award category as the judging panel felt that the innovative aspects and simplicity of FC103 Refrigeration Variable Speed Drive would deliver excellent energy savings across a wide array of industry applications.

The new FC 103 Refrigeration Drive from Danfoss is an AC variable speed drive (VSD) that has been specifically developed for use in refrigeration applications, with a particular emphasis on the retail environment. The FC 103 has been designed not only to maximise the energy savings VSDs make possible in these applications, but also to be exceptionally easy to set up and to have a low total cost of ownership.

Key innovations include a unique set-up wizard that uses plain, easy-to-understand “refrigeration language” instead of the often-confusing VSD terminology typically used by products from other suppliers, and built-in functionality that eliminates the need for external components like compressor pack controllers. FC 103 drives also feature a built-in electronic manual that, in the event of problems, provides suggested solutions at the touch of a button.
