Makita introduce new mains grinders with more power and lower vibration

 • 115mm and 125mm slim body models

 • Anti-restart, mechanical brake and Tool-less Wheel Cover Adjustment

 • Super Joint II system vibration absorption and Ezynut lock-nut

Makita has introduced additional mains powered grinders to their comprehensive range that offer many features and benefits for the operator. There are various models in the 115mm and 125mm range all of which feature a new design of slim-line machine body.  This provides the best possible ergonomic grip around the barrel which has a perfect circumference and shape, and allows convenient and comfortable grip for best possible comfort and machine control. All models feature the new design of wheel cover which can be moved to any desired position for protection whilst the grinding wheel is exposed for work. The wheel cover position can be altered without the need for tools. The spindle lock button is conveniently placed on top of the transmission housing.

Importantly, a new vibration reduction system has been incorporated in the new range. The Super-Joint II system provides increased machine durability by absorbing the machine vibrations created by the abrasive wheel grinding or cutting material. This results in a 20% reduction in vibration in comparison to the previous model.

The new Makita GA4540 and GA5040 models have 115mm and 125mm diameter grinding wheels respectively with 1100watt motors running up to 11,000rpm and weigh just 2.5kg. The GA4541 and GA5041 models have a similar specification and include a mechanical brake triggered when the control button is released, which rapidly brings the wheel to a halt.

The GA4540C and GA5040C models feature an Anti-Restart system that requires the operator to switch the machine to off, should the wheel have been jammed in operation, or if the machine is plugged back in with the switch in the ‘on’ position, before the motor will restart. This function prevents damage to the machine and importantly puts the operator in full control of these powerful grinders whatever the operating conditions. These two models with soft start 1400watt motors have variable speed control dial for operation between 2,800 and 11,000rpm with constant speed control switch mounted conveniently on the motor body side. The features list includes an electronic current limiter for overload protection that switches off the drive should the wheel be snagged.

Completing this new range of high specification Makita grinders, the GA4541CT01 and GA5041CT01 include all the premium features of the ‘C’ models with the added advantage of an Anti-Vibration Technology side grip handle being included for vibration protection in the most demanding operations. These models also feature the Ezynut lock-nut for rapid wheel change and the mechanical brake feature is also included.  These new Makita grinders set new standards of performance and reduced vibration for many industrial applications.
